Could You Benefit From Getting A Stairlift?

If you struggle to climb the stairs then a stairlift might be beneficial to you. Not being able to use the stairs in your house may make areas inaccessible. While you may look to move into a bungalow or alternative accommodation, the cheapest and simplest way to regain your independence would be to purchase a stairlift.

All of our stairlifts are operated by rechargeable batteries so in the event of a power cut your stairlift will continue to work, not leaving you stuck on the stairs. Many of the stairlifts we offer have two or more charging points so you are not having to worry about where you leave the seat on the rail to charge it.

The first step you should take in getting a stairlift would be for one of our stairlift specialists to perform a free home assessment where they will take into account your current and future needs, the type of staircase you have and many other factors in order to find the perfect stairlift for you.

Stairlift Benefits - Straight Stairlift Curved Stairlift

What Stairlift Do I Need?

There are two main options when looking for a stairlift, curved and straight. Both curved and straight stairlifts are available in many different models, colours and sizes. A stairlift should complement your home’s features which is why there is so much choice. The stairlifts we offer here at Modern Mobility have been manufactured by Hanidcare, one of the UK’s leading stairlift brands.

Straight Stairlifts

straight stairlift is exactly what it sounds like, a stairlift for a straight staircase! This means that your staircase doesn’t have any bends or twists in and your stairs go straight up. Within the Handicare range, there are 4 different straight stairlift models.

  • Handicare 1000
  • Handicare 1100

The price of these stairlift models varies depending on which model you choose and any optional extras you may require.

Curved Stairlifts

Curved stairlifts are specially designed for a staircase with a curve, intermediate landing or a corner on. There are two models which you can choose from.

  • Handicare 2000
  • Handicare Freecurve

The Handicare 2000 is a twin-tube construction and delivers stability and strength whilst manoeuvring around bends whereas the Handicare Freecurve is a single tube design. Curved stairlifts are tailor-made specifically for your staircase. Due to this their price may be higher than a straight stairlift but it doesn’t mean that they will be expensive.

Preowned Stairlifts

We know that a new stairlift may not be in everyone’s budget which is why we offer used stairlifts as well. Both straight and curved stairlifts can be purchased used.

Are Preowned Stairlifts Safe?

All of our used stairlifts have been reconditioned to the highest standard so you can rest assured that you will still be receiving a quality and safe stairlift. Just like new stairlifts, a used stairlift will come with a warranty that covers you in the event of a mechanical issue occurring.

Stairlift Rental

Stairlift rental is an option for those who will only need a stairlift for a certain period of time. This could be due to an operation or if a loved one with mobility issues is coming to stay at your house. You can choose a time and date that is most convenient for you for one of our stairlift engineers to install and take it away for you.

Installations, Repairs and Servicing

Within Modern Mobility we have a knowledgeable experienced team that will preform any installations, any repairs that are needed and can also preform a service of your stairlift to make sure everything is working as it should.

We recommend that your stairlift is serviced at least once a year to make sure that your stairlift is running smoothly and doesn’t have any issues. You can have the peace of mind that we are only a phone call away to help with any of your stairlift problems.

What Optional Extras Are There?

Depending on your needs or level of mobility there are different optional extras that you could potentially benefit from. A slide track is a great optional extra if your stairlift blocks the entrance to a door or blocks access at the bottom of the stairs. A seatbelt comes as standard with our stairlifts but a body harness is available for those who need additional support. There are also powered swivel seats and powered footrests available.

What If My Stairs Are Too Narrow?

There are models within our range that have been specifically designed with narrow staircases in mind. For example the Handicare 1000 and the Handicare 1100 are some of the slimmest rails to provide minimal intrusion on the staircase.
