Meet Our Stairlift Technician

For some of us, climbing the stairs everyday may be a slight inconvenience. A part of the day we don’t think about often. But for many of us, without the aid of a stairlift, that small effort can turn into a dreaded experience.

Shortness of breath, muscular strain, body pains – All experiences which nobody wants to have everyday, especially in your own home.

If you have been experiencing any of these difficulties, we understand what you must have been facing. You are not alone – We’re here to help you find the right solution to improve your mobility.

What is a Stairlift?

Example of the Handicare 1100 in use

Straight stairlifts (or curved stairlifts) are designed to help those with difficulties getting up and down stairs.

Typically installed into someone’s home, stairlifts operate using rechargeable batteries to carry the person to the top or bottom of the stairs. This makes them a great solution for those struggling with stairs.

The rechargeable batteries also allow the stairlift to be used even if there is a power cut!

Installing a stairlift correctly is paramount for safety, and should always be done by a professional.

If you order any stairlift from Modern Mobility, one of our expert stairlift technicians will install it for you at no extra cost.

To get a better understanding of how we can help you, why don’t we meet one of our stairlift technicians?

“Having a stairlift makes a world of difference. You can tell how much people struggle beforehand.

It’s great seeing them once I’ve finished fitting the stairlift. They’re excited to use it and you know how much it will help them when moving around the house again.”

How Do I Order a Stairlift?

Home Survey

Before we can order you a stairlift, we need to assess which stairlifts will fit into your home. We want to make sure you have the right stairlift to meet your needs.

To ensure we can do this, we ask that you please book a free home survey. One of our technicians will visit you to establish what will be the right stairlift for yourself and your home.

Choose Your Features and Finishes

Along with all the base features a stairlift would come with, you also have a variety of additional features you can include. These will vary depending on the stairlift model, but here are a few options to give you an idea what is available:

  • Seating options – Many stairlifts allow you to choose from seating options. Some of these can provide adjustable settings for height, width, and depth of the seat.

Others can be upgraded to feature a fully powered swivel seat, allowing for a safer exit when leaving the seat.

Want your stairlift to match your style? With some models you can also choose from a range of colours for your seat.
  • Easy Hinge – Each stairlift runs along a track, where the seat of the stairlift sits to go up and down the stairs. Sometimes the bottom end of the track might stick out into a hallway or room, creating a small obstruction.

A hinged track, either manual or powered, can be used to fold the end of the track up when the stairlift is not in use. This removes any floor obstruction from the track, allowing for safer movement at the bottom of the track.
  • Powered Foot Plate – Stairlifts are designed with a footplate, we’re you can rest your feet when in-use. Most stairlifts allow you to fold up the footplate manually, creating more free space on the stairway.

However, having to open and close the footplate after every use could be less convenient than having one that did so on its own.

This is where a powered foot plate can help. Being powered to automatically fold or unfold the foot plate from the press of a button, it removes the need to bend down to create more space.
